About Us

  • Provide a broader educational and cultural experience for graduate students
  • Enhance interdepartmental social interaction among students
  • Strengthen the campus-wide sense of community among graduate students
  • Make the graduate school experience more valuable and enjoyable for all graduate students

If you have any questions about the funding process, please email the GSC Funding Committee at gsc-funding@assu.stanford.edu

Recommended Timelines

VSOs must go through the standard process of requesting funding from the GSC Funding Committee, so that the Funding Committee’s recommendation can be presented to the GSC in a timely manner.

GSC does not provide retroactive funding. To ensure sufficient time to process your request, use the recommended timelines below. Any funding request submitted in a shorter than recommended timeline is not guaranteed to be processed in time and might not get funding approved. GSC is not responsible for any purchases made for an event in which funding was not approved.

Since many funding requests are unique, these recommended times below allow for sufficient time to (1) review funding requests, (2) work with financial officers to ensure funding requests are within guidelines, and (3) for the GSC to review and vote on funding requests. Plan accordingly when preparing your funding requests.

Funding Request CategoriesFunding Request AmountRecommended Timeline for Fall, Winter, and Spring Quarters³
Food & drinks only≤ $5002 weeks before event date
Food & drinks only> $500¹ ²3 weeks before event date
All other requests≤ $1000¹3 weeks before event date
All other requests> $1000¹ ²4 weeks before event date
Notes:
¹All food requests >$500 require an invoice or quote attached in the line item of the funding request
²All requests > $1000 require attendance at a GSC meeting prior to approval.
³GSC meetings occur weekly during these academic quarters. Any requests made outside of these quarters (e.g., breaks in between quarters or Summer quarter) are subject to longer processing times. It is the VSO’s responsibility to plan accordingly and proactively reach out to ensure their request can be processed in time. Contact the funding committee if you have any timeline questions.
