Disability Equity Now

This year, ASSU Disability Advocacy launched Disability Equity Now, a community action network created to push for a disability community center.

Less than a year old, Disability Equity Now has already made a substantial impact. In October we launched a petition demanding a community center which garnered over 1,200 signatures from the Stanford community in under a week, over half of which were collected in the first 24 hours.

We followed that up by bringing over 30 activists and concerned community members to the office hours for the VPSA’s community center designation process committee to deliver our petition and make our voices heard.

In November, we held the Rally for Disability Equity in White Plaza, gathering dozens of students to publicly call for a permanent community center.

While we are proud of our work so far, we have a lot more to do. If you want to learn more or join us, subscribe to our email list, follow us on Twitter, or like us on Facebook.

Thank you for your support!
