Eligibility

The ASSU Legal Counseling Office is provided and funded by Stanford students through their fee assessment. All registered Stanford students and their spouses and domestic partners with Stanford ID are eligible for counseling, provided they have not requested a refund of the fee assessment. The services of the ASSU Legal Counseling are not available to faculty or staff, except as beneficiaries of the general education function of the office.

An attorney on our staff can give you the practical advice you need to best approach the problem. Actual representation in court is not a function of the office. Formal advice shall not be provided in any case involving Stanford University, faculty, or staff. Also, if the case involves another student, one or both students may have to be referred to attorneys outside of the office.
