Dear Stanford Student,
The new academic year has started and we of the Nominations Commission (NomCom) are excited to see so many new faces on campus and so many returning ones! Along with the start of the quarter comes the convening of university committees. If you are unfamiliar with NomCom, you can check us out at http://nomcom.stanford.edu to learn more about us and the university committees with which we work. We are the division of the ASSU that facilitates getting student leaders from the graduate, undergraduate, and professional populations involved with university committees that deal with all aspects of campus life. If we’ve learned one thing during this process, it is that Stanford students are an amazing crowd with an incredible amount of passion. If you’re new at Stanford, you’ll quickly learn that it’s a humbling experience to meet your peers during your years here. With that said, we’re incredibly excited about the positive impact that our nominees will make on Stanford over the next year (you can view them here: http://newassu.stanford.edu/nomcom/members.html). Although we do most of our recruiting in the spring, we’ll be doing some more in the fall, and you’ll see advertisements for these positions released in a couple weeks. If there aren’t openings on the committee about which you are most passionate, we encourage you to meet the student members on that committee to learn what they are doing this year. If you want to learn more about the NomCom process, feel free to contact any of the current members (we’re listed on the website), and we’ll be eager to meet you. Welcome back and welcome home. We wish you the best during the upcoming year. Jonathan Bakke NomCom Chair http://nomcom.stanford.edu |
