How has a professor inspired , empowered , or enlightened you?
AND/OR
Which Student Group (VSO) has done something amazing to benefit the Stanford or surrounding communities?

Since the 1990’s, the ASSU VSO and Teacher of the Year Awards have recognized Volunteer Student Organizations and Stanford faculty who have had a special impact on the Stanford student body. Any SAL-registered VSO and any member of the Stanford Academic Council (which includes all tenure track faculty and lecturers) may be nominated. These awards are traditions that remind us of the lasting effect that individuals and groups can have on the Stanford community.

Both award recipients will be recognized at the new campus-wide Stanford Awards gala to be held on May 24, 2012.

All nominations due by: Friday, May 11th @ 11:59pm

The ASSU Executive has been working on a collaborative initiative between the Director of Student Unions, the ASSU, and VPSA: VSO Office Space Pilot Program. The VSO Office Space Pilot Program will offer three rooms in the spring (Old Union 200A, Old Union 200B, and Old Union 200C) to any Stanford VSO for their use for practically anything—meeting space, temporary storage, group work, and generally creating a place for your VSO to call its own.

This pilot program will run until the end of Spring Quarter 2012, and will hopefully continue into the future.

Any active Stanford VSO is eligible for the space and may apply by filling out this form.

Stanford students are especially keen to identifying insightful problems on campus. We’ve made Facebook pages and Google docs, ranted to our classmates, and expressed our frustrations through memes. On Tuesday April 10th from 7:30-9:30pm, BASES, ASSU, PDSA, and SDI are hosting a joint design thinking workshop about turning these “problems” into opportunities to do something and get involved on campus.

We invite you especially, as a leader on campus, to SIGN UP! This is a great way to gain visibility for election campaigns, meet fellow students, and hear about the issues students care about most.
